March Madness in the Classroom

march madness ideas for the classroom

March Madness is only a few weeks away which means it's time to start thinking about how to incorporate March Madness in the classroom with the content you're currently teaching!

If your mind is going blank on what you could do, don't worry, I have a few ideas already prepped and ready to go!

March Madness Word SearcH FREEBIE

First things first, who doesn't love a good word search? This Free Basketball Word Search is perfect for a fun Friday, bell ringer, early finisher, to hand out with a sub, etc. And did I mention, it’s completely free!

Your students are going to cruise through that word search though, so you might want something a little more substantial!

I absolutely LOVE playing trashketball in the classroom year round, but there is just something about playing it in March during March Madness!

CLASSROOM Trashketball Review Games

These NO PREP multiplication trashketball activities are perfect for you if you're just looking for a quick grab and go no-prep multiplication activity, but I also have editable trashketball templates so that you can create your own trashketball activity for whatever subject you teach!

These blank templates are perfect classroom review games for inserting the questions from a recent quiz, to prep for a test, to review a novel, to practice a specific skill, etc. They are seriously so great for any subject or content area!

March Madness Book Bracket Freebie

I LOVE a good ol' book bracket, but not all of us do read-alouds, which is why this freebie is perfect for every teacher. I have created a quick-to-print March Madness bulletin board template so that you can create a March Madness bracket for whatever subject you teach.

If you're learning about different philosophers right now or studying a specific topic in science, simply use the heading provided to create a March Madness bulletin board bracket that works for you! I’ve even seen counselors use this to go over different calm-down strategies, fidgets, etc.

The options are ENDLESS!

If you decide to use any of these in your classroom, I would love a shoutout on IG @mrskayladurkin so that I can see your unique spin on how it's working in your classroom!

Enjoy,

Kayla

How do you feel about teacher podcasts? I’ll admit, I wasn’t super into them at first either. However, once I realized the impact they can make, I was hooked.

Sometimes, the best teacher PD we can receive comes from having conversations with other educators, which is what the Let’s Talk Teaching Podcast is all about!

Whether you’re driving to school, driving to the gym, or folding some laundry at home, if you’re looking for a new teacher podcast to listen to, this is surely one you do not want to miss!
